How To Organize Budget Categories

We want you to have the freedom to customize your budget the way that works best for you. We don't force you to pigeon-hole all of your expenses into a few pre-selected categories. When you first start with Ploutos Budget there are pre-populated collections and categories to get you started, but you can add, edit, delete, and reorder them to suit your needs.

Categories

Categories are a bucket that we place money into to fund future expenses for a specific purpose. You can think of it as a digital budget envelope.


Add

  1. Tap on the add button in the bottom navigation.

  1. Tap "Category".

  1. Tap below "Collection" and select the collection you want to add the category to.

  2. Enter the name you want to give the new category.

  1. Tap "Save".

Edit

  1. Tap on the category.
Select category form
  1. Tap "Edit".

  1. Tap below "Collection" and select the collection you want to move the category to.

  2. Enter the new name you want the category to have.

  1. Tap "Save".

Delete / Archive

  1. A category with transactions will be archived instead of deleted.

  2. Tap on the category.

  1. Tap "Edit".

  1. Tap "Delete Category" or "Archive Category" if the category has transactions associated with it.

  1. Confirm by tapping "Delete" or "Archive".

Reorder

  1. Press and hold on the category for 2 seconds.

  1. While still holding slide your finger up or down to reorder.
