In our continuous effort to enhance your user experience, we’ve introduced a new feature that allows you to archive categories that you no longer use, similar to what you can do with your accounts. We understand that your budgeting needs evolve over time and that some categories might become redundant. Having these obsolete categories around might clutter your budget, making it less intuitive to navigate. That’s why we’ve rolled out this archiving feature.

We believe in the importance of experimentation when it comes to budgeting. Different categories work for different people, and it’s through trying out different things that you find what fits your unique needs. With that in mind, we’ve designed our system in a way that doesn’t penalize experimentation. When you create a category, you are not committing to it forever.

A category can always be deleted, as long as it doesn’t have transactions assigned to it. If a category has been used in the past but is no longer relevant to your current budgeting practices, you have a couple of options. One option is to rename it to something that fits your current needs. The other is to archive it.

Archiving a category removes it from your active budget view, decluttering your workspace. However, it doesn’t delete the category or the data associated with it. All the historical transactions remain intact and the data is merely hidden. This way, you can maintain a clean budget while also preserving your financial history.

But what if you need the category again at some point in the future? No problem at all. Our system allows you to un-archive a category at any time. When unarchived, it will reappear in your budget just like before, complete with all its associated data. This flexibility ensures that you can adapt your budget to your changing needs without losing any historical data.
